At South Philadelphia High School, outside on the school's Campus we have a beauttiful garden. In the Spring Cleanup of 2012, the LoMoyamensing Program came across SPHS on Synder Avenue onto the school's Campus. They launched garden beds on the side of Jackson Street near the School's Campus. The LoMoyamensing Association raised over $13,200 from the garden. The money came from grants such as the Bank Of Amrica, Recyclebank and Philly State. They had some help from in kind volunteer service and support from the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society.
Before the Program even got started the LoMoyamensing Program to the administrations of South Philadephia High School (SPHS) to ask permission to work together as a group to green the school's campus in year 2010. People in the Neighborhood where the only public open space. They asked South Philly High for the advice for which teachers would like to collaborate with them on the project. When the School agreed to supporting the project, they made plans for the launch of the orchard during the 2010 Philly Spring Cleanup. They partnered up with the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society and they gave them plants and other supports so they can establish the SPHS Gardens. Before the garden raised beds, they talked to South Philly High again for their support on beganing the project and reasearching Grants for it.
